Truck Fuel and Emissions Reductions
Truck Fuel and Emissions Reductions
A new proposal by the Environmental Protection Agency would require that semi-trucks and other large vehicles manufactured between 2014 and 2018 get better gas mileage and reduce their carbon emissions. The proposal has the potential to drastically lower fuel costs for truckers, increase overall efficiency, and create new jobs in the truck manufacturing and technology industries.
At TBS Factoring Service, LLC, we are committed to helping our customers keep their businesses running smoothly and efficiently. To speak with a representative about how truck factoring can help your company, contact our offices today by calling 800-207-7661.
New Fuel Economy and Emissions Standards for Trucks
The new fuel economy and emissions standards for trucks and other large vehicles would reduce fuel use and emissions by:
- 20 percent for long-haul tractor trailers
- 15 percent for large pickups and vans
- 10 percent for buses, garbage trucks, and similar vehicles
The EPA estimates that overall, these new standards would reduce fuel use by up to 500 million barrels of oil, substantially reducing our dependence on foreign oil, and would reduce carbon emissions by up to 250 million metric tons. Truckers would benefit from more efficient vehicles and fuel reduction costs of up to 50 percent of current levels.
