Hailey Benton-Thomas One of SFNET's 40 Finance Executives Under 40
Great leaders get great results. Exceptional leaders empower others to someday replace them, knowing that their greatest success lies in the next generation of leaders they inspire.
Hailey Benton-Thomas is an exceptional leader. Her knowledge and dedicated focus to making TBS Factoring Service better by making our people better is a model to our community, our clients, and our industry. Her confidence, integrity, and relentless dedication to the people around her was recognized recently by the Secured Finance Network, which selected her as one of the trade organization’s 40 outstanding leaders under 40 for 2020.
Benton-Thomas graduated from Pepperdine University with a B.A. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. After spending several years as a Human Resources consultant, she returned to Pepperdine under the Dean’s Scholarship and earned her Juris Doctorate. While at Pepperdine, she competed in advocacy competitions, volunteered in the Los Angeles Homeless Legal Aid, and clerked with (Retired) Chief Justice Deanell Reece Tacha of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Upon graduation, her legal expertise, combined with her ability to understand and empathize with the employer’s perspective, made her a highly sought employment law litigator and speaker in Southern California. As her career progressed, she found her true passion for training and developing others which led her to become the managing attorney of her firm’s flagship office and the youngest associate in firm history to be on the partner track.
In 2014, Benton-Thomas moved her family to Oklahoma to join TBS Factoring Service in the role of Director of Human Resources/Corporate Counsel. TBS quickly recognized her talent and moved her into the C-suite as the company’s first Chief Operating Officer. During her time with TBS, she has become an indispensable member of the leadership team capable of any task assigned to her.
In this expanded capacity she has helped to transform the company, introducing a Leadership Development and Mentor program that has recently been expanded to help Oklahoma nonprofits.
In addition to her work at TBS, she has served as Chair of the Business and Technology Advisory Board for Capitol Hill High School, and as a board member of the Central Oklahoma Humane Society.
